Ewa Moncure

Ewa is a spokesperson for the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) and a head of the agency’s press office. Previous to joining Frontex in 2011, she worked for four years as a PR officer at the European Food Safety Authority in Parma, Italy. Before that Ewa worked in media relations at Ogilvy Public Relations in Brussels and Hill & Knowlton, also in Brussels. Ewa holds an MA in International Relations from University of Kent and an MA in Art History from Tufts University in Boston. Ewa is Polish.

Federation of Albanian Associations in Greece

The Federation of Albanian Associations in Greece founded in 2004, as an organization active in education and culture issues in the context of Greek society in relation to the Alba- nian tradition. The F.SH.SH.G. is active in the defense of human rights and supports the needs of Albania immigrants for legalization. It is an organization consisted of 21 associations of the Albanian Community in Greece.

The Federation, in accordance with its charter, has the following main purposes:

1. To achieve gradual consensus among Albanian Associations in Greece for cooperation and interaction in the main directions that serve

integration into Greek society, while preserving national and cultural identity of the Albanians. 2. Integration of Albanian migrants in the Greek society and in Europe: legalization, equality in front of the law, learning of the Greek and other languages to help communication with the society, equality at work, school, education, and public services.

To promote the spirit of friendship among the Albanians, Greeks and migrants of any nationality in Greece.

Collaboration with organizations, govern- ment, NGOs and unions for integration.

To take position against crime and crimi- nals of any nationality, against racial and ethnic differences, against legal gaps and bureaucratic delays that aggravate the lives of immigrants.

3. Maintenance the identity of the Albanian migration: the Albanian language, culture, tradi- tions, customs. Improve the quality of represen- tation of Albanian immigration by attempting

to gradually improve the image of Albania and Albanians in Greece , in Europe and the world.

Our priority than just maintaining our culture and pass it down to our youth, is the successful mediation between Greek society and Albanian community in Greece. The trust of the Albanian associations and and their members it is as important for us as the recognition by the Greek and the Albanian state.

Frontex

The mission of Frontex - the European Border and Coast Guard Agency - is to promote, coordinate and develop European border management in line with the EU fundamental rights charter and the concept of Integrated Border Management. Frontex’s tasks include: Monitoring migratory flows and carrying out risk analysis regarding all aspects of integrated border management. Carrying out a vulnerability assessment, including assessing Member States’ capacity and readiness to face threats and challenges at their external borders. Monitoring the management of the external borders through the Agency’s liaison officers in Member States. Coordinating and organising joint operations and rapid border interventions to assist Member States at the external borders, including in humanitarian emergencies and rescue at sea. Supporting search and rescue operations that arise during border surveillance operations at sea. Deploying European Border and Coast Guard teams, including a rapid reaction pool for joint operations and rapid border interventions and within the framework of the migration management support teams. Creating a technical equipment pool for deployment in joint operations, rapid border interventions and in the framework of migration management support teams, as well as in return operations and return interventions. Providing support at hotspot areas with screening, debriefing, identification and fingerprinting; establishing a procedure for referring and providing initial information people who need, or wish to apply for, international protection; cooperating with the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) and national authorities. Supporting the development of technical standards for equipment, especially for tactical-level command, control and communication as well as technical surveillance to ensure interoperability at Union and national level; Deploying equipment, border guards and other staff from the rapid reaction pool where urgent action at the external borders is necessary. Assisting Member States in fulfilling their return obligations, including coordinating and organising return operations. Fighting organised cross-border crime and terrorism at the external borders by supporting Member States in cooperation with Europol and Eurojust. Setting up pools of forced-return monitors, forced-return escorts and return specialists.Setting up and deploying return intervention teams during return interventions. Supporting the training of Member States’ border guards, other relevant staff and experts on return, including the establishment of common training standards. Participating in research and innovation in the control and surveillance of the external borders. Developing and operating information systems that enable swift and reliable exchanges of information regarding emerging border-management risks, illegal immigration and return; cooperating with the Commission, Union bodies, offices and agencies as well as the European Migration Network. Assisting in the development and operation of EUROSUR and the development of a common information-sharing environment, including interoperability of systems. Supporting Member States’ coast guard authorities through cooperation with the European Fisheries Control Agency and the European Maritime Safety Agency; providing services, information, equipment and training, and coordinating multipurpose operations. Assisting technical and operational cooperation between Member States and third countries.

Fundacja Ocalenie

The foundation supports migrants in the integration and individual development. We act for intercultural dialogue and strengthening of civil society. We strive to ensure that every person can live a dignified life with a respect for his/her rights.

Gagik Grigoryan

Gagik Grigoryan is a cultural mediator and educator with Georgian language. He is member of the Board at Fundacja Ocalenie where he works since 2013. His work focuses on migrants and refugees. He is a native of Georgia and is a long-time activist in the NGO sector. Expert on the culture of Caucasus region.

Generation 2.0 for Rights, Equality & Diversity

Generation 2.0 for Rights, Equality & Diversity (Generation 2.0 RED) is a nonpro t organization consisted of young people who ght for the rights of socially vulnerable groups, regardless of their origin, ethnicity, religion, gender or sexual orientation.

We combine social action and research, aiming to promote human rights, equality and diversity, ght racism, xenophobia and discrimination. Our organization has experience on social action, sociological and legal research, project management and cultural events. We participate and collaborate with the biggest human rights networks not only in Greece but also in Europe, always aiming to the equal participation of young people in the social and political life of the country they live in. Generation 2.0 RED consists of members of the Board, with the major assistance of our volunteers with Greek or immigrant origin.

Facing racism as interdisciplinary phenomenon, we emphasize the need to understand, not the kind of racism, but the social processes and in- teractions that lead to racist attitudes. To achieve these objectives, our team maintains an organi- zation dedicated to the issues that young people are facing in Greece and Europe, especially the problems of youngsters of immigrant origin, who were born and/or raised in Greece, but still are not considered equal to Greek citizens, legally or socially.

Gina Moscholiou

Gina Moscholiou is a journalist and radio talk show host at the Athens Municipal Radio (Athina 984), covering politics and current affairs.

Georgios K. Filis, Ph.D

Dr. Filis holds a Ph.D. in International Relations and Geopolitical Analysis from the University of Durham (UK), a Master’s Degree in International Studies from the same University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Deree. His research interests and published work focus on geopolitical theory and analysis, geoeconomics and international entrepreneurship, energy security, and the broader developments on the Black Sea-Straits- Aegean- Eastern Mediterranean maritime axis. Dr. Filis is a visiting lecturer in various Greek military colleges, a contributing expert at the international consultancy organization Wikistrat, and director of AEGIS Publishing, which operates the news portal “www.defence-point.gr”. He is also a Member of the Academic Board of the Institute of Diplomacy and Global Affairs (IDGA).

Giorgos Tsimouris

Giorgos born in Athens - Greece had his first encounter with photography at the 18+ Photography Team in 2006 and followed studies of photography in Focus school and Digital Film Making in SAE Athens. He has documented the most severe humanitarian crises and conflicts in more than 20 countries all over the world covering Middle East,Balkans and Africa. He has been assigned and his work has been published in Newsweek, TIME, New Yorker, CGiorgos Tsimouris graduated from the Department of Political Sciences, Panteion University, Athens (1980). He studied Sociology at the University of Essex, UK (M.A. 1994) and Social Anthropology at the University of Sussex, UK (PhD 1998). For his doctoral thesis he conducted research among refugees of the Greco -Turkish war of 1922 from Asia Minor, who settled in Greece. He has published in Greek and English on nationalism, intercultural education, refugee and migratory issues. He is the author of the book “Imvrii: Fugitives from our place, hostages in our homeland” (Athens, 2007 & 2013), concerning the the trajectory of the Greek community of Imvros (Gökceada). His last research concerns the lives of ‘seafarers’. He teaches at the Department of Social Anthropology, Panteion University, Athens.ourrier International,Polka,Spiegel, Guardian,Al Jazeera, CBS (60MINUTES), CNN, BBC, among others. He has dedicated the last nine years to a long-term project on migration, focusing on the perilous European paths that migrants follow. Giorgos based Athens, Greece works as a freelancer photojournalist and filmmaker.

Greek Forum of Migrants

Founded in September 2002, the Greek Forum of Migrants is a network of immigrant organizations and communities whose goal is to empower migrants through public expression and collective representation. Currently 39 immigrant organizations and communities participate in the GFM.

The mission of the GFM is to address the problems of immigrants as individuals and collectively, to develop cooperation, solidarity and joint actions with NGOs, trade unions and other organizations, advocacy of immigrants’ rights and to promote their positions, proposals and demands in public debate in relation to the state, the government, the political parties, the Parliament and the municipal and local authorities and other bodies.

The vision of GFM is that immigrants will become a positive factor contributing to the promotion of the values and ideals of social solidarity, creative multiculturalism and respect for human rights, The GFM believes that this goal cannot be reach but through equitable public presence and representation of immigrants themselves.

The GFM focuses on providing direct information (personal or in groups- face to face or through social media) in regards to the needs and request of refugees, migrants. The use of social media and web page is a project we are currently implementing with the support of OSF. We are organizing events and actions for refugees and migrants, for example we have organized with the help of our volunteers events inside hosting centers.

As learning Greek has been identi ed as an issue also for refugees the GFM implements programs of Greek lessons funded by Mercy Corps with the co-operation of the Municipality of Athens.

Also the GFM participates in the refugee commu- nity hosting center Welcommon.

Greek Forum of Refugees

The Greek Forum of Refugees (GFR) is an umbrella of refugee communities in Greece, which aims to provide assistance to refugees during the asylum procedure, to protect their rights and to assist their integration into Greek society. It has developed over the years an expertise on refugee participation through its diverse activities as bridge maker between new arrivals and the host society and authorities, raising public awareness regarding refugee issues, encouraging participation and integration of refugees and empowering refugees to raise their voices. GFR is linked at national and European level with other communities and civil society groups as PICUM, Asylum corner, International Detention Coalition (IDC) and ECRE.

The founding goals of the Greek Forum of Refugees converge on the following six points:

Defending the rights and protecting the freedoms of refugees and asylum seekers, as enshrined by international law. Monitoring developments in the legislation , both the Greek , European and international, responsible for the issues around refugees. Updating refugees of their rights and obligations.

Informing and raising awareness around access to refugee status, and general immi- grant and refugee issues. Raising awareness of Greek as well as international governmental and non-governmental organizations on the situation of refugees in Greece. To raise awareness and provide relevant information to improve the situation of refugees.

Creating relationships with agencies and non-governmental organizations in order to start meaningful dialogue between all institutions of government and human rights organizations.

Supporting the unity of refugees. Creating social and cultural ties between all mem- bers of the Greek Forum of Refugees , as well as between the members of each ethnic community of refugees in Greece .

Effectively lobbying with the state for the promotion of refugee issues. To demand the provision of adequate resources to the asylum committee, including personnel in the appropriate and necessary languages.

Providing a platform for refugees and their communities to self-organize. The Greek Forum of Refugees encourages refugees and asylum seekers to organize themselves in order to collectively shapes and contribute their own leaders so as to engage in high quality, public debate.

HE Edgar Ghazaryan

HE Edgar Ghazaryan was nominated Ambassador to Poland in 2014. Until 2014 he served as Governor of Vayots Dzor region and was Dean of Department of Management of the Armenian State University of Economics, and Director of its Yeghegnadzor branch for many years. Since 1999 he he has been a lecturer at the University. He is a long time contributor to Armenia’s regional development and has served as an expert on municipal governance at UNDP since 2006. He holds a PhD in Economics.

Herakles - Spyridon Actypis

Herakles - Spyridon Actypis is currently Head of Amnesty International Greece.

He holds a Ph.D. in International Law from the University Panthéon-Assas (Paris II) and is an Associate Professor at the Open University of Cyprus.

He is a member of the Athens Bar Asso- ciations.

Institute of Diplomacy and Global Affairs (IDGA)

Ioannis Balafas

Ioannis Balafas was born in Lixouri of Kefalonia, with origin from Tzoumerka in Epirus. He is a Civil Engineer and has worked in a large number of projects, studies as well as construction, of major technical projects. Mr Balafas is a member of the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA party. He was elected as a member of parliament in the national elections on the 25th of January 2015, at the 2nd Region of Athens. He was elected by the House of Parliament as Second Vice President. He has served as Deputy Minister of Interior and Administrative Reconstruction from October 2015 to November 2016. Migration Policy.

Isabella Logotheti

Isabella Logotheti joined METAdrasi in 2016 and currently works as a Funding & Outreach Officer. She has previously conducted research and worked for NGOs in Greece and abroad. At METAdrasi, amongst others, she was involved in the creation of the Mini Lexicon for Basic Communication in six different languages, a tool aimed at facilitating communication with refugees and migrants. She holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Athens and a Research Master in Sociology of Culture, Media and the Arts from Erasmus University, Rotterdam.

Izabela Hrynek

lawyer, holding a position of advisor to the Minister of Interior of Poland Izabela Hrynek is a lawyer, holding a position of advisor to the Minister of Interior of Poland delivering assistance on national strategies and legislation in the field of internal and international matters i.a. migration. In the past years she worked as legal expert for EU institutions in Balkan states providing legal advice on rule of law, humanitarian and migration matters. She also works on research papers regarding EU Acquis and international law.

Jacek Prokop

The vice rector at Warsaw School of Economics, responsible for the international relations. He is also the chair of the Department of Business Economics at WSE. He has received his Ph.D. in Economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University known as Virginia Tech. His dissertation was entitled „A game theoretical investigation of the international debt overhang”. After spending 4 years in the doctoral program at Virginia Tech, he became a tenure-track faculty member in the Department of Management and Strategy (currently Department of Strategy) at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University where he has taught and conducted research for 7 years. Since 1998, professor at WSE. His Further research includes international cartels.

KASAPI - Unity of Filipino Migrants

Governance of the organization uses the commit- tee system. The Executive Committee runs the day-to-day operation of the organization. Governance is shared by the following committees:

Committee on Welfare, which is in charge of looking after the welfare of members has the responsibility of visiting the sick in hospital, helping process their hospitalization needs. This job entails visiting detainees in detention centers. In case of death, the committee helps facilitate burial or repatriation of the remains of the deceased.

Finance Committee looks after the nancial status of the organization, and includes responsibility in payment of bills, rent of the of ces of the organization.

Membership Committee is in charge of membership data base, updates the status of each member. It organizes orientation courses for prospective new members

Legal services committee is responsible for the legal needs of members, and keeps regular contact with the group of volunteer lawyers. Cases such as illegal dismissal by employers, racial discrimination, are handled pro bono by lawyers

Committee on Cultural Affairs is responsible for cultural presentation of ethnic dances. Every year, KASAPI organizes a cultural festival. This year the Santacruzan was held at the Pedion tou Areos park. Some 6.000 people took part in the two-day event.

Sports Committee organizes sports events such as basketball tournament for adult men as well as for the youth. It organizes chess tournament and has chess team that participates in tournaments organized by trade unions and municipalities, like Dimos Ki ssia.

Education Committee provides information kits on Greek legislation. Every Sunday it holds group discussions on pressing issues of the day. On a regular basis, it conducts information meeting where resource persons invited to provide inputs and explanations of legislations and events happening in the country.

Katarzyna Pisarska

Founder and Director of the European Academy of Diplomacy and the Visegrad School of Political Studies in Warsaw, Poland. Since 2004 she has transformed a “start-up” institution into an international renowned diplomatic academy, with over 5500 Alumni coming from 75 countries. Throughout her career she has inspired and led change within a number of organizations, including the Community of Democracies and the Council of Europe. In addition to her leadership and management experience Dr. Pisarska pursues a career in academia. She is an Assistant Professor at the Warsaw School of Economics, an Associate Scholar at the Center for European Policy Analysis in Washington D.C and a Visiting Professor at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy in Baku. She has also served as adviser to the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Polish Parliament, to the Office of National Security at the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland; and continues to work as regular foreign affairs broadcaster in Polish and international media. Previously, Dr. Pisarska was a Fulbright Visiting Fellow at Harvard University (2007), a Visiting Scholar at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (2010) and at the University of Oslo (2012). She is also a graduate of the University of Łódź (Poland), WarsawSchool of Economics (Poland) and College of Europe in Bruges (Belgium).

Katerina Lappa

She studied Education at the University of Athens, Aegean University in Greece and the Johannes - Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. She was a founding member and member of the editorial board of Aerostato, the only magazine for Greek children abroad published by the Greek Ministry of Education (1984-1988). In Germany, she contributed to the “Multicultural Work in Koblenz Neundorf District” project (1988-1989) and worked as a native language teacher in 1990. She participated in the after-school activities program of the 87th Intercultural Primary School of Athens, organised by the University of Athens (1997-1998). She was also one of the key authors of the Greek Language books for the 1st and 2nd grade of Minority Primary Schools of Thrace (1998-2000). She has worked as a coordinator

and animator for a variety of educational activities in children public libraries (1992-1998) and was a member of the Scientific Committee of the projects ReadingRelay Race (2000-2005) and Literacy Activities (2011-2012) of the National Book Center. Since 1998 she works as a

teacher in Primary Education – the last 9 years at the Intercultural Primary School of Alsoupolis and takes part at scientific congresses and teachers’ continuing education programs related to activities with children books and intercultural education.

Krzysztof Kozłowski

The vice rector at Warsaw School of Economics, responsible for teaching and students affairs. He holds a MA in Journalism and Political Science (University of Warsaw, 2002), and MA in Law and Administration (University of Warsaw, 2006). Defended his PhD at the Institute of Political Science, University of Warsaw (2008). Habilitated at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Faculty of Political Science and Journalism (2012). He was a Visiting Scholar, Kyungpook National University (Republic of Korea), Taiwan Fellow (Soochow University, Taiwan), Invited Lecturer at Ca’ Foscari di Venezia (Italy). He is interested in political and economic transformation and change in East and Central Asia. Professor Kozłowski conducts studies concerning the economic analysis of organized crime and terrorism

Lefteris Papagiannakis

Lefteris Papagiannakis was born in France in 1971. He completed his primary and secondary education in Greece. He returned to France to study public law in the University of Lille II, followed by a DEA in European Community Law and International Economic Law. After the completion of his studies he worked in the European Parliament as a parliamentary assistant. Since then he also worked on the education of the muslim minority in Greece (in Thrace), as a legal counselor for the political party Ecologists Green and the Special Secretariat on environmental inspection. He was elected in the municipal council of Athens in 9/2014 and named vice mayor on migrant and refugee affairs in 3/2016.

Marina Isaia Mavridou

Marina Isaia Mavridou is currently the Project Manager for Secours Islamique France-Greek Branch, with two main protection and education projects “Assistance and Protection of Refugees and Migrants in Greece” and “Support to formal education for refugee children” in Malakasa, Greece. Born in Kavala, Greece in 1991 she has a multidisciplinary background with undergraduate and graduate studies in Pedagogy, Social and Cultural Anthropology as well as in European Studies from the University of Thessaly, Greece and KU Leuven, Belgium. In the past she has worked and volunteered in projects and organizations for vulnerable groups focusing on social resilience.

Maria Liapi

She is one of the founding members of the NGO «Centre for Research on Women’s Issues Diotima» and a member of its directing board since 1989. She has participated as scientific coordinator in numerous studies, research tasks, women’s projects and groups of gender equality experts at national and EU level. She is experienced in working with the development of gender equality Plans and the implementation of projects in the field of gender based violence, integration and advocacy of women’s rights. As researcher she is experienced in qualitative research methods and she has contributed in a number of books, articles and edited works on gender issue.

Maria Pamuła

Maria Pamuła is lawyer, activist, expert on protection of refugees at UNHCR.

Maria Sidiropoulou

Maria Sidiropoulou has studied journalism and international relations in Greece, as an erasmus student in France, and as an exchange student in Poland. She has worked as a documentary producer for ARTE and VICE, and she has been reporting about socio-political issues, the financial crisis and refugee crisis in particular, for media such as CCTV News International and currently for the news program “Istories” on SKAI TV. In the last two years she has visited refugee camps all over Greece covering the conditions there, and has reported on actions and movements in solidarity with refugees.

Martha Roussou

Ms Martha Roussou is an Advocacy Officer with Oxfam in Greece. She has an MSc in Social Policy from the University of Bath, UK. Martha has worked in various countries, including 10 years in Brazil and 5 years in Brussels doing advocacy for NGOs such as ECRE, Marie Stopes International and Caritas Europa. She has also worked as an assistant to Members of the European Parliament on issues of asylum policy and gender.

Melissa Network

Melissa is a very active network for migrant women in Greece, promoting empowerment, communication and active citizenship. Our net- work focuses on actions which strenght networking, promote capacity building and advocacy of human rights.

METAdrasi - Action for Migration and Development

METAdrasi is a Greek NGO founded in 2010 with the main aim of facilitating the reception and integration of refugees and immigrants in Greece. Its primary function is to fill the gaps in areas not covered, or covered only to a limited extent, by the public authorities or other NGOs. METAdrasi has three main axes of activity:

1. The training and provision of interpreters in over 37 languages and dialects, to enable vital communication with refugees.

2. The protection of unaccompanied minors, who have been separated from, or lost, their parents, through a complete safety net involving transit accommodation facilities, their safe escorting from detention centers to suitable accommodation facilities and the pioneering activities of guardianship and foster families.

3. Various other activities in the reception and integration of refugees such as legal aid, certification of victims of torture, humanitarian aid material collection and distribution and has organized over 46 free Greek language courses.

Michael Afolayan

Michael is a musician, actor, performer, artist, and he designs paidagogical - art workshops. Born on 1980 in Athens where he lives till now. His parents are immigrants from Nigeria. He is co-founder of the music-dance team ANASA (2005) which studies and presents performances inspired from the myths, rythms and dances of West Africa. The team was developed into Cultural Center of African Art and Cultures ANASA (2011), and Michael teaches up to now west african percussions, he also accompanies by percussions the workshop of “Primitive Expression” and designs intercultural activities which he also presents in primary schools.

Ministry of the Interior and Administration

The Ministry of the Interior (Polish: Ministerstwo Spraw Wewnętrznych, MSW) is an administrative structure responsible for internal security, law enforcement, civil defence and registry functions in Poland. The current ministry was formed on 18 November 2011, when after the parliamentary election of 9 October 2011 there was a call to restructure the then Ministry of Interior and Administration, from which it was split. In late 2015 it was folded back to Ministry of Interior and Administration.

Munting Nayon Cultural Education Center (Kindergarden)

The Munting Nayon Cultural Education Center

is a day-care facility providing early child education to preschool children, aged 2 to 6 years, from a variety of migrant nationalities. It was

set up in 1994 by KASAPI Hellas, as a collective effort of Philippine migrants, and continues as such. With limited resources, Munting Nayon attempts to meet the needs of migrant parents who work long hours in order to survive and who are predominantly single mothers and domestic workers. The centre operates from Monday to Friday, 7:30 – 18:00, freeing parents from having to involve third parties in after-school care for their children. Initially, Munting Nayon served the children of mostly Philippine migrants but it has now become a second home for the children of migrants from Africa (Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ethiopia, Erithrea), Asia (Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Philippines) and from the Balkans (Albania, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine). Children who have graduated from our school are now in Greek schools, or beyond, and have generally adjusted well into Greek society, unlike many children of migrants who did not enjoy such a nurturing introduction to their educational life.

Munting Nayon received funding from the Bodossaki Foundation under the “We are All Citizens” program of the EEA.

The mission of Munting Nayon is to enrich the quality of life of migrants by giving peace of mind to parents and by providing a progressive and holistic education to their children. The program is characterized by an emphasis on developing critical thinking and problem solving skills to prepare the children for the future and on enabling the children to be productive, con- dent and responsible members of their family, community and society.

Natassa Pappa

Natassa is an independent graphic designer. Her design practice focuses on using the city as a source or as a medium in order to create new narratives and experiences. Along with her design practice, she writes for design blogs and magazines and is involved in education and ongoing urban research projects, somewhere between Athens and Rotterdam.

In 2013 her MDes graduation project City as a Vagabond guide won a Silver European Design Award, in 2014 and 2015 she was nominated as a greek young designer with three of her works and in 2015 she won an EBGE award on book design. She lives and works in Athens, Greece.

Olympia Exarchou

Olympia studied Social Anthropology at Panteion University and in 2014 she received her Master’s degree in Cultural anthropology and Development Sociology with a specialization in Visual Culture and Museum Studies, from the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. She conducted research at the National Museum of Ethnology investigating the use of the audiovisual presentations in museums and she was involved in several research projects. In 2015 she participated in a Summer School on Visual Anthropology, during which she filmed a short documentary. The film was presented in a special section at the Athens Ethnographic Film Festival (Ethnofest).

Nikos Karaiskos

Niko Karaiskos is currently a Coordinator of the Refugee Education Programme for the Greek Ministry of Education. Since the 1980s he has been privileged to work in various educational environments in Greece, the UK and South Africa. He has worked as a researcher at the University of Athens, Department of Education and the Department of Political Science successively and, then, as a Principal at an Athens Primary School. In most of the 2000s he worked as Project Manager for Education and Training Projects at the Information Society SA. After a short term as a consultant at the Ministry of Education he returned to the classroom in 2014. Niko Karaiskos holds a degree in Education and graduate degrees in Comparative Education and in EU Integration Policies. He still struggles to write his PhD on the process of Europeanisation of National Education Policies. He is a PMI certified Project Manager, experienced in managing EU funded projects.

Nikos Megrelis

Journalist and filmmaker with a long and eventful journey into newspapers, radio, television and websites. He was Director of ERT World (2011-2013), presenter emissions (from 1989) to political and social issues (the last to black ERT was «Theme night») and a member of Executive Committee of the International Federation of Journalists (2004-2010). Has interviewed personalities of the international political scene, they left their mark in history, like Arafat, Zhivkov, Demirel, d’Estaing, Gul Napolitano, Cholmpourk, Isabel Alliende and others. He has conducted missions in more than 60 countries and has given interviews and reviews in international networks CNN, CNN TURK, RAI, AL JAZEERA etc. Since 2014 vice President of Technopolis City of Athens and from 2016 Board member the Greek Documentary Union. He has received many awards and distinctions, such as: nominated for the Freedom Award of the press in Spain 2013, candidate with the movie-documentary “Dying for the Truth” for the documentary prize of Greek Film Academy in 2012, Foundation Cutuli prize (Italy 2012) and many others.

OXFAM in Greece

Oxfam is an international confederation of 18 organizations which works with partners and local communities in more than 90 countries to end the injustices caused by poverty. It was founded in Britain in 1942, during the Second World War, to help ship food supplies to women and children in Greece.

Today, it works for the eradication of poverty across the world through campaigns that give the chance to people living under dire conditions to speak up, through the supply of emergency help and through long-term development programs in vulnerable communities. It also ghts to end unlawful commercial rules, to improve health and education services for everyone and to resist to climate change.

In Greece, Oxfam rst launched its programs in October 2015 offering support to the increasing number of people who arrived at the Greek islands seeking safety and a decent life; it now operates in Lesvos, Athens and Ioannina.

Its vision entails a just world without poverty; a world where people are valued and treated equally, enjoy complete rights as citizens and can in uence decisions affecting their lives.

Petros Charavitsidis

Petros Charavitsidis is an appointed teacher in Primary Education and a headmaster of 132nd Primary School of Athens. He studied Pedagogics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Political Science at Panteion University (Faculty of Political Science and International Studies). He holds a masters’ degree from the Department of Primary Education, Aristotle University, and a PhD at the same Faculty, in the field of Pedagogy and Social Exclusion. His research interests include issues of social exclusion, marginalization and multicultural education. He has participated in research programs, teacher training courses and his articles have been published in Greek and international press. He is the author of the book “Building a Democratic and Humane School”, recently published by EPIKENTRO editions.

Polish Office for Foreigners

The Office for Foreigners was established to provide comprehensive and professional service in the scope of legalization of stay and granting protection to foreigners staying in the territory of the Republic of Poland. In a friendly and honest manner shares knowledge on the issues concerning foreigners, raising public awareness of Polish citizens and popularizing attitude that co-existence of several small countries in a one country is possible. It strengthens self-image by performing its mission in a manner devoid of political influences with the participation of highly skilled employees.

Praktycy Kultury

Stowarzyszenie Praktyków Kultury (SPK) – is an association comprised of artists active in the field of „live” culture. “Live” meaning that everyone is allowed to benefit from it and everyone is allowed to contribute. According to the association art can’t exist without life, it should be put in to practice instead of being researched. SPK organises performace art projects in the spirit of public awareness and collaborates with institutions from diverse fields. The association exists since 2006 and has been awarded many times. Their target are social groups in vulnerable positions.

PROJECT: Mini Lexicon for Basic Communication.

METAdrasi has contributed to the development of a series of innovative learning tools, dictionaries and glossaries, including the digital “Learn Greek” dictionary in five languages, an interactive learning tool aimed at beginners as well as those who need support to improve their vocabulary in Greek, and more recently the Mini Lexicon for Basic Communication in six languages a tool to facilitate day-to- day communication between refugees and migrants with Greek or English-speaking persons, currently distributed in refugee camps across the country.

Sanny Paraskevopoulou

Senior Consultant with very extensive experience of implementing large scale projects and managing high value business solutions. She has:

• Managed the successful implementation of ‘Relocation Scheme Program’ for Municipal- ity of Athens in partnership with UNCHR and funded by EU.

• Worked as advisor to Azerfon for the implementation of sponsorship and supply agreement for the execution of Baku 2015-1st European Games Organisation (BEGOC), in Azerbaijan.

• As Regional Senior Account Manager at Motorola with responsibility for South

East Europe, secured very signi cant new business opportunities (including winning major new accounts). Grew the business year-on-year to achieve annual revenues of €70 million.

• As Senior Business Partner at Datakat Ate, restructured the company’s organisation, introduced more ef cient ways of working and reduced operating costs.

• As the Strategic Network Planning Manager at Vodafone-Panafon, created the 5-year strategic network development plan. Hired and trained staff; led the technical negotia- tions with network infrastructure suppliers.

• Oversaw the full implementation of the network development project.

She holds an MBA from Imperial College Business School and MSc/BSc in Electrical Engi- neering and Computer Science from National Technical University of Athens. She speaks Greek, English and French.

Secours Islamique France - Greek Branch

Founded in 1991, Secours Islamique France (SIF) is a Non-Governmental Organisation with missions devoted to international solidarity, social and humanitarian causes in the fields of humanitarian assistance and development aid, with a focus on alleviating the suffering of the poorest people both in France and in the world. SIF acts wherever humanitarian and social needs require mobilization of emergency relief and implementation of development programmes. A caring world, in which the basic requirements of people in need are satisfied, is SIF’s vision. SIF is inspired by the values of Islam, solidarity and respect for human dignity, which are at the heart of its concerns. Through its commitment, values and missions, it calls for the building of human solidarity that transcends differences and borders.Neutrality, Independence, Impartiality, Respect, Responsibility, and Risk-Taking: These are the principles underlying the humanitarian action that SIF has committed to preserve since its creation. Each of these principles guarantees relief for populations that is fair and respects their diversity – whether cultural, religious or social. SIF is currently implementing projects in Greece responding to the various needs arising within the context of the ongoing refugee and migrant crisis. With a main focus in protection and education, the projects: “Assistance and Protection of Refugees and Migrants in Greece” and “Support to formal education of refugee children and youth” in Malakasa, have, from the outset, invited all members of the camp community to participate. SIF believes that accountability to the community is the key to contributing to durable improvements for people surviving through vulnerable situations. Every person has the right to participate in deciding and shaping their lives. As such, SIF puts a strong emphasis on the interface between rights holders and duty bearers. SIF’s field team is on site daily to promote self-reliance and ensure interface between duty bearers and rights holders. Through SIF’s partnership with Bibliotheques Sans Frontieres (BSF), an “Ideas Box” was introduced into the Refugee Accommodation Site of Malakasa, which resulted in the creation of a Child Friendly Space ensuring the protection of refugee children and youth and the successful functioning of an educational curriculum that combines non-formal education with psychosocial support activities.

Sfera WolnoSłowo

Strefa WolnoSłowa (SWS) organizes theatrical, artistic, cultural and educational activities focused on intercultural dialogue and themes connected to migration. Through international art projects and interdisciplinary activities involving refugees and immigrants living in Poland,SWS facilitates intercultural dialogue and promotes European integration and human rights.SWS is interested in analysing current events in the world, as well as exploring innovative methods of cultural animation and multicultural education. SWS collaborates with theatres, public administration, schools, cultural centres, and NGOs in Poland and abroad combining in their activities art and social involvement with a focus on the activities that encourage increased participation in cultural and social debates.

SolidarityNow

SolidarityNow was established in 2013 by the philanthropic fund, the Open Society Foun- dations (OSF), to mitigate the damage engendered by the humanitarian crisis that Greece

is currently enduring. At SolidarityNow, we believe that to emerge from this crisis, Europe must reclaim its vision of a community based on solidarity.

Our mission is multi-fold, to counter the most serious effects and urgent needs promulgated by the crisis, through the provision of relief services

to members of the society most affected; as such SolidarityNow (in cooperation with the OSF) has opened two solidarity centres, one in Thessaloniki and one in Athens, inspired by founder George Soros’ original idea of solidarity houses or safe houses for those seeking refuge.

In practice, the SolidarityNow centers take the shape of an open space housing NGOs that offer specialized services free of charge -ranging from targeted medical aid to legal counselling, child and family support to job-searching support catering to everyone -regardless of legal status. We seek to extend our help as much as we can by cooperating with public, private and grass-root organisations and by creating synergies and supporting as many initiatives with the aim of enhancing bene ts across Greek society.

SolidarityNow equally contributes to the capacity-building of civil society through a system of re-granting, offering nancial and programmatic support to organisations and projects in the aim of maximizing their impact in times of great necessity.
